RECRUITMENT Spotted by photographer Dennie Cody while horseback riding near her home in Miami at the age of 13. Waited until after she finished high school to turn pro. Signed by Ford to begin modeling in Europe.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION Considered one of the top supermodels. Daughter of an Anglo father, Duane, and an El Salvadoran mother, Liz. Her father was a pilot for Pan-Am while her mother was a stewardess. Vehement supporter of the animal activist group PETA. She also donates a large amount of her time and money to the American Foundation for El Salvador. She used to be a co-owner of the Fashion Cafe chain of restaurants with fellow models Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, and Elle MacPherson.  She and the Fashion Cafe have mutually terminated their business relations.  Reasons cited were "scheduling conflicts."  No more information were given.  The other remaining owners ( Elle MacPherson, Claudia Schiffer, and Naomi Campbell ) have had no comment.  Some insiders believe that Christy dropped out due in part to the urgings of her actor/boyfriend Jason Patric, who has been known to dislike the Fashion Cafe and of her career in fashion in general.   On a lighter note, she also co-owns the Up and Down Club in San Francisco with her sister, Erin. The world renowned New York Metropolitan Museum of Art made 120 mannequins molded with her face, due to her classic beauty. She once dated actor Christian Slater, but is now seeing actor Jason Patric, who appeared in the watery sequel to Speed, which oddly enough is titled Speed II. There was a bomb on a boat and it bombed in the theaters.   Past reports of Christy retiring from modeling seem to be untrue. Christy will be appearing in several upcoming runway shows and is doing new ad campaigns for Maybelline and Calvin Klein. She is currently enrolled in New York University as a sophomore studying liberal arts.
