BACKGROUND INFORMATION Claudia is the oldest of four siblings. The others are Stefan, Ann Carolin, and Andreas. Born in Dsseldorf but grew up in Rheinberg. Claudia grew up in an upper-class family and was planning a future in law before being discovered. Father is Heinz, mother is Gudrun Schiffer. Claudia is a non-smoker and a non-drinker. She grew up Catholic. Claudia is a co-owner of the Fashion Cafe chain of restaurants along with several of her model friends. She is currently engaged to magician David Copperfield. After dating for seven months, she received a $4.5 million dollar, 5-carat, oval-cut, diamond on a gold ring. They have a pre-nuptial agreement in which Claudia cannot disclose any of his magic secrets. Probably the highest paid model today. She has appeared on more magazine covers than any other model, totaling more than 400 covers. In 1995, Paris Match magazine named her "Most Beautiful Woman in the World." Some of her interests include tennis, painting, and horseback riding. An interesting thing happened in November. Claudia was in a small charter plane scouting locations for her next swimsuit calendar in the Lesser Antilles when the door of the aircraft blew open. Claudia was the only passenger aboard and the pilot was unaware of the situation. Claudia managed to wind her belt around the door handle and pull it in and tied it shut. This is a display of the "super" half of being a supermodel.

  • May 1997 - Claudia is reported to be in talks to star in Abel Ferrara's "New Rose Hotel" along with Christopher Walken and Willem Dafoe. This movie is a futuristic thriller and shooting is to begin in the fall.
